Company Background

Avira was set in Germany in 1986 by Tjark Auerbach. The business currently employees over 500 people and has offices in the United States, China, Romania, and the Netherlands.

Awards & Prizes

While Avira’s Antivirus Guru has won several awards, the latest was in December 2018. The software went up against other programs from the Real-Word Protection Test performed by AV-Comparatives, an independent organization that assesses and tests antivirus programs. It scored top marks in both the False Positives and Protection categories, gaining the prestigious Advanced+ certificate.

Also in December 2018, Antivirus Pro won the Best Product badge in AV-Tests monthly consumer product testing, scoring perfect marks in all three types of Performance, Protection, and Usability.

Security Features

Avira provides both free and updated versions of its award-winning antivirus. All versions provide outstanding protection against viruses, adware, and spyware. They’ll also take the additional measures of blocking all known ransomware strikes in addition to infected and/or phishing websites. The mid-tier paid version goes a couple of steps farther and will also protect you from evolving ransomware.

As stated earlier, the Pro version has received multiple industry awards. By way of instance, in each month of 2018, they achieved award status. According to AV-Comparatives newest testing, Avira Guru blocked and outstanding 98.8% of all malicious efforts. That is an antivirus you can have faith in!

Additional Features

On the lookout for an antivirus program with a couple more features? Have a Look at the Avira Internet Security Suite. You get the added advantage of passwords which are auto-generated and saved. No more keeping your passwords in a spreadsheet.

Want to get content from anywhere on earth or surf anonymously? Avira’s Prime Suite includes Phantom VPN Guru as well.

Ease of use & Performance

Whatever package you choose, you can be certain Avira will not bog down your system. The program is lightweight and quick, which means that your system’s performance is not impacted by whatever procedures your antivirus is running.

On both desktop and mobile, the UI (user interface) is clean and simple to navigate.

Amount of Permits & Package Details

Based on the package you buy, you are covered for either 1 or 5 devices.

Choosing to be charged annually does save money, so this is considered the best bargain.

So far as the various packages go, I believe I’d jump right into the Prime package as it features a VPN. The mid-package does comprise a Password Manager, which is great, but I really do believe, even in the substantial increase in price, you are getting a much better deal.

Customer Support

Avira doesn’t provide chat service but they do have both telephone and email support for clients who have premium products. They also have a comprehensive knowledge base, so fast answers are often offered.

Bottom Line

If you are in the market for new antivirus software, you can be certain Avira and among its packages will meet – and exceed your requirements. Quite a number of the solutions are also offered ad hoc, which I think is a massive bonus for the ones that prefer to pick and choose so as to make a package specific to their requirements.

When you assess Avira’s price range against its rivals, it does seem to be somewhat expensive at first glance. However, when you consider the coverage and security features it provides, in addition to the criteria it meets, you will realize the cost is justified.

All that and it is available on all top desktop and mobile operating systems. Who could ask for more?
